Maliyah Gramata-Jones

Maliyah is an artist, activist, and yogi. She is committed to diversifying the yoga community by seeking people of all races, body types, gender identities, and economic situations in her classes.

Maliyah found yoga during a time that seemed more tumultuous than 2020 - senior year of college. She realized that not only was yoga changing her body, but it was also changing her mind. Assignments, afternoon traffic, and the anxieties of post-grad life didn’t seem as daunting after a 60-minute practice. As if she’d discovered the secret of the universe, she began sharing yoga with friends and family.

Although Maliyah had great luck getting people in downward dog, she couldn’t help but notice that her studio classes didn’t reflect the world around her. She decided to become a certified instructor and bring yoga to anyone willing to try.

Maliyah completed her 200 Hour Certified Yoga Teacher Training with The Yoga Mat School in Koh Samui, Thailand. There she trained under the guidance of a lifelong yogini, a Buddhist nun, and a Turkish DJ. Since her certification, she’s taught students at-risk, at BLM vigils, DEAI conferences, and for free on Instagram.
