This approach to trauma - informed space holding teaches us to defer to the timing of the body, and how to help our clients stay rooted in body awareness.

Through a blend of theoretical learning, expressive exploration, personal discovery and practical applications, students will learn how to support the integration of trauma expression when it arises. Students will understand the physiological underpinnings of trauma to help clients stay regulated, present and empowered.

This unique training integrates principles from psychology, dance/movement therapy, drama therapy, somatic experiencing and yoga philosophy. Students will learn how to attend to the expression of trauma in the body, and how to facilitate self-regulation for their clients, as well as for their own nervous systems. Students will also learn to identify their own nervous system’s defensive strategies, and explore how somatic activation impacts their capacity for effective facilitation.

This training is for any facilitator wanting to explore an integrative somatic approach to trauma-informed care and a deeper understanding of the body’s relationship with social, developmental, relational, spiritual, and cultural wounding and healing.

As facilitators, it is essential that we enter the space with a basic understanding of the language of the body. Trained in the expression of the nervous system, we can attend more fully and more compassionately to the bodies before us. We can also take care of ourselves and learn how our own unprocessed trauma shows up in the room. Trauma is a part of being human. With an informed and compassionate lens, trauma energy can be a sacred portal to our birthright of engaging relationally and of fully empowered living.

This training earns you 19 Continuing Education credits through Yoga Alliance. It's focused towards yoga teachers, but can also be applied to any teaching setting, so non-yoga educators are also welcome to join!
