Studio Policies

  • We kindly require everyone to register for all classes in advance. You can do this on our website or via the Wellness Living Achieve App. We don’t allow walk-ins, and will not allow anyone who hasn’t preregistered to attend class.

Registrations will ONLY be held until 2 minutes before class begins, then spots will be given to students on the Waitlist. Please arrive early to secure your spot, as space is limited in the studio!

  • Arrive at least 5 minutes (or even 10) early to class. We do not have the capacity to let in latecomers, and we let people off the waitlist 2 minutes before class starts.

  • Please check in with the front desk about which studio your class will take place in. Some classes are in the big studio, and some take place in the partitioned space (creating 2 studio spaces).

  • Remember to bring your own mat to class. We don’t have a rental mat system, and while we do have a couple of loaner mats for out-of-towners, we ask that you not rely on those being available, and instead invest in a great mat for your practice! We do have a few options for sale at the studio.

  • We understand that sometimes schedules change and you’re unable to make it to class. If you can’t attend, kindly cancel your booking on our website or the Wellness Living Achieve App at least 2 hours before class. If you cancel after that, you’ll be marked as a ‘late cancel’ and we won’t return the class to your account.

If you don’t cancel class beforehand, and don’t show up for class, you’ll also see a $5 ‘no show’ fee on your account.

Keep in mind that if you forget to cancel class, you can always email us before class begins and we’ll take care of it for you!

Try as best as you can to plan ahead and communicate if you won’t be there so we can add people off the waitlist and open up spots!

  • The practice space is a phone, smart watch, and pager-free area. You can either keep your devices at home, or you may place them in one of the baskets on the shelves located inside the green alcove in the studio. Be sure to turn them OFF. Enjoy the one time of day when no one can reach you.

If you absolutely need to have your device closer by for medical reasons, please let the teacher know. No other exceptions will be made, and if we see your device near your mat, we will kindly ask you to move it.

  • Please make sure to allot enough time to fully enjoy the end of class and the transition out of the studio. We don’t allow anyone to leave early from classes unless it is a clear emergency. This is to ensure a beautiful experience for you, and to keep you and your fellow students safe.

  • Please wash your hands often and keep yourself healthy. Do not come to class if you’re feeling unwell, or getting over an illness. Remember: yoga is not a remedy for the common cold, and we want to protect each other as much as possible through flu season (which seems like every season at this point).

We’re thrilled to be open in Grand Lake! With a spacious, tall-ceilinged studio, a living green wall set against a mural painted by Founder, Jillian Schiavi, and fresh air flowing from the garden oasis backyard, this sanctuary has been designed for accessible and inspiring yoga for everyone in the neighborhood. We have the best teachers in Oakland, the friendliest staff, and we live yoga and our values off the mat, every day. Join us!

 Studio Amenities

  • Our big, beautiful studio space can exist as one open room, holding as many as 55 yogis for class - or it can be separated to create two smaller studios. The larger of the two can hole 30 students, and the smaller, 20 students.

The studio has tall ceilings, calming colors inspired by nature and a ‘breath of fresh air,’ lush pathos plants, dimmable candlelight, and surround sound for classes with music.

  • We provide blocks, blankets, straps, and bolsters for use, and ask that students wipe down any props at the end of class.

  • We have 2 bathrooms and one separate changing room.

We do not have showers in the studio.

  • Our front lounge area, complete with a pink velvet sofa and chairs, is a beautiful space for relaxing before and after class, and gathering for studio events.

Our back lounge area offers daily tea and water, benches to mingle with fellow students, and cubbies to store your shoes and non-valuable belongings

FAQs

  • We recommend you find parking well in advance of class, either right on Lakeshore Ave, or over in the Trader Joe’s parking lot (hint: it’s free over there!)

  • We do NOT allow walk-ins. If it’s your first time to the studio, we kindly ask that you register before you come to the studio. This is to prevent theft and to provide for your safety in the studio.

After you’ve set up a profile on our website, you can sign yourself up for classes online, or you can drop in to the studio. Our front desk staff will be happy to help you!

  • We recommend that you bring the following:

    • Yoga Mat

    • Towel

    • Water

    • Open Mind

We recommend that you leave behind:

    • Valuables

    • Phone, Smart Watch

    • Negative Energy

  • We offer the following discounts at the studio:

    • School Teachers: 15% off all class packs and memberships

Please email us with a photo of your school ID to take advantage of these!

  • All of our monthly memberships require a 3 month commitment when you first join. After that point, your membership continues to renew each month, and you now have the option to pause your membership for up to 30 days (you can do this twice a year), or cancel. If you’re unable to commit to the initial 3 month requirement, or you’d rather take it one month at a time, we recommend you choose the single month unlimited pass.

For auto-recurring memberships, to put your membership on pause (and keep taking advantage of the price point you’re locked in at):

    • Email oakland@arise.yoga and let us know how long you’d like to pause your membership. We allow up to 2 pauses per year, for up to 30 days each time. Pausing allows you to travel, explore, take a break, move away and decide to move back - and maintain the rate you’re currently paying when you return.

    • Keep in mind that you will be charged a prorated amount for any remaining days left in your current billing cycle (on the front or back end of your pause, or sometimes both!). You don’t need to schedule your pause to align with your auto-renew date because of this.

If you ultimately need to cancel your membership (sad!), here’s what we ask:

    • Email oakland@arise.yoga at least 2 weeks before your next scheduled payment date. If you request to cancel after this time, we cannot guarantee that you won’t be charged for your next month of yoga (yes, our inbox really is that full!). We can always refund a payment that you didn’t intend to go through, but we won’t be able to prevent it ahead of time.

    • Once your membership has been cancelled, we’ll email you a confirmation. Know, of course, that you can always come back at any time, and that the price of a membership may have changed by that time.

“The studio is airy and bright; the teachers are talented and conscientious. So exciting to see this fantastic studio arrive in Oakland! Very excited to practice there as often as possible.”

— Bernardo S.

“I’m so happy to be back on my mat with other humans! This is a great studio space, with a wide variety of excellent teachers and guides. The studio is large and has really nice light (skylights) which sets the stage for a fully focused practice. ”

— Rebecca L.
