Myofascial Release with Jennifer Kurdyla

  • Arise Yoga Crown Heights 730 Franklin Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11238 United States (map)

Yoga is famous (or infamous!) for its focus on stretching and mobility as a way to open the body and release tension from the tissues and the mind.

But stretching can be hard for many people to access and enjoy, limiting their engagement with the deep and multifaceted practice of yoga. Enter myofascial release, a therapeutic movement modality used by professional athletes, massage therapists, and more as a way to support suppleness in muscles and a systemic connective tissue called fascia. Myofascial release can enhance athletic performance, improve proproception and interoception, and support healing from injury, illness, stress, and trauma—allowing one to truly abide in a state of integration that is Yoga.

In this class, we'll go through a full-body myofascial release practice using Yoga Tune-Up balls, blankets, blocks, and our own hands to melt away tension from movement/exercise, psychoemotional stress, and postural habits that can put strain on the body and joints. You'll leave feeling spacious and clear, and equipped with a powerful tool for self-awareness and self-regulation you can take anywhere.

COST: Use your membership, class pass or drop-in to attend.
